RCHC is pleased to announce an online conversation “Diaspora Jews in the Royal Court: The Feast of Ahasuerus and Persian Kingship”, which will take place on the evening of Friday, 6 October (California) / morning of Saturday, 7 October (Beijing). It will be jointly presented by Charles Howley, current PhD student in Iranian Studies program at UCLA and Wu Yingjie, a PhD candidate of Jewish Studies at Sun Yat-sen University in
Guangzhou. The event will investigate the theme of royal banquet in relationship with the role of Jewish diaspora from the complementary perspectives of Biblical and Iranian studies.
This conversation is the inaugural event in a conversation series for young scholars “Comparative Views on the Ancient World”. Each session in this series will bring together scholars from China and abroad to conduct a conversation stretching across different pre-modern cultures.
