Prof. Shawn Wang has published the Anthology of World Religions (Shijie zongjiao wenxuan 世界宗教文选), the first anthology of primary sources on world religions in the Chinese language. The publication has been supported by the Fund for Philosophy and Social Sciences, Guangdong province and the Educational Reform Fund of the Department of Education, Guangdong province. This anthology incorporates selections from 15 different religions, including the foundational religions of antiquity and contemporary movements. It also annotates specialized terminology from more than 16 foreign languages. The anthology aims to serve readers interested in learning more about the diversity of world religions. The project has been driven by Prof. Shawn Wang’s conviction that religious studies have always belonged to the domain of philosophy in Chinese academia, a the publication of a good anthology with translations of essential religious texts fills an important gap in Chinese religious studies. The Anthology of World Religions is envisioned as a continuous project, and new editions will be created to ensure it remains the best anthology on religious traditions in the Chinese academic world.
