RCHC Announces the Award Lecture of Isabella Maurizio, Winner of the Best Article Competition
Author: RCHC     Published: 17 March 2026

RCHC is pleased to announce the name of this year’s winner of the Best Article Competition for Young Scholars organized by the journal Old World: Journal of Ancient Africa and Eurasia: Isabella Maurizio, Postdoctoral Fellow at Sorbonne University. Her submission, “Challenging the Social Order in Late Antique Italy: The Revolutionary Approach to Economic Ethics in the De Nabuthae and De Tobia of Ambrose of Milan”, was selected based on the assessment of the work’s high academic quality and the brilliant clarity of its presentation.

In her article, Dr. Maurizio analyses how Ambrose of Milan conceptualized a new ideal of the social order in the changing social environment of the late antique city, with the Christian bishop assuming a previously unseen degree of importance.

Dr. Maurizio will present her findings at the online lecture that will be conducted on 27 March 2026 on Microsoft Teams, 8 pm Beijing time (12 pm GMT). To attend the meeting, please follow this link: RCHC Award Lecture: Isabella Maurizio "Challenging the Social Order in Late Antique Italy".
