“Scent Seeking, Pulse Discovering: Chinese Incense Culture Theme Exhibition” officially opened in BNBU

The “Scent Seeking, Pulse Discovering: Chinese Incense Culture Theme Exhibition” officially opened on 1 December 2025 in Classroom CC324. Organised jointly by the Historical and Cultural Centre, the Chinese Culture and Global Communication Project and Zhongshan Tianxiang Bieyuan Cultural Communication, the exhibition offers visitors a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the historical context and spiritual significance of Chinese incense culture. It will run until 3 December, and during this time, professors and students are welcome to enter freely, enjoy the different scents on offer, and engage with the material. ...

Old World's 2025 best article competition for young scholars: "Challenging the Social Order in Past Societies"

Jana Matuszak Wins Old World's 2025 Best Article Competition for Young Scholars Award

RCHC is pleased to announce the winner of the 2025 Best Article Competition for Young Scholars organized for the journal Old World: Journal of Ancient Africa and Eurasia. After the initial screening and shortlisting, the Editorial Board members voted in favour of an article by Jana Matuszak, Assistant Professor of Sumerology at the University of Chicago. Her submission, “Doing Gender in Babylon: The Construction of Ideal Womanhood in Sumerian Literature from the Early 2nd Millennium BCE”, was acknowledged as a brilliant contribution that combines deep philological analysis with thought-provoking insights into the gender roles in ancient Mesopotamia. ...
